While born in Chicago and a forever Bulls fan, Joy is a Seattlelite and has lived here since she was two years old. She completed her undergraduate studies at Seattle University and then lived abroad to work for a non-profit in Honduras. Upon moving back to Seattle, Joy pursued her Master's degree in Public Health at the University of Washington.
Her two focus areas included government-led emergency preparedness as well as advocacy for Community Health Workers. In her last role, she was a Program Manager on Enterprise Business Resilience team at Nordstrom where she supported emergency and crisis management for four years. In the last year, she also participated as a leader in the Asian American and Pacific Islander employee resource group at Nordstrom.
